Cherry Hill Park

78 Broad Street, Ely CB7 4BE
Cherry Hill Park is a large public open space sitting between Ely's Porta Gate and Broad Street. With views of Ely Cathedral and the Dean's Meadow. This park is also known as "Castle Hill" due to it's previous use as the site of Ely Castle. This was a motte and bailey castle built by William I in 1070 in his conflict with Hereward the Wake to subdue the Isle of Ely. All that remains on the site, in connection to the former castle, is the mound.
